Arts Education - Arts for Community Empowerment (ACE)

Muntu Dance Theatre has been a vital force in communities since 1972.  Our programs have opened a world of discoveries about movement, culture, heritage and style for thousands of youth throughout the Chicagoland Area.  These programs tell timeless stories about what is important to us through a language everyone can understand.  That’s why our mission goes beyond what we do onstage.  Our Arts for Community Empowerment (ACE) programs are based on partnerships between Muntu and host community groups and organizations.  We all collaborate in conceiving, designing and implementing services that respond to the unique needs of the area.

Activities include:

Integrated arts education partnerships, in school and community-based residencies, providing artistic instruction in dance, music and visual arts, hands-on workshops in a variety of disciplines, parent workshops, professional development for teachers, and ensemble performances.
